permanent pasture 2024, duo show with bird nord

a "permanent pasture" is a plot of agricultural land used to devoted to grassland, seeded or natural. they are often used for grazing.

it's also this somewhat sensitive turn of phrase that envokes some kind of utopic farm world. bird and i were thinking about it as the place your dogs goes when it dies. we both grew up with dogs, both in the west, both surronding by vast expanses of wilderness which went on to inform both of our practices.

permanent pasture became a quiet, private kind of show where we could make these oblique references or gestures to our upbringings without anyone else knowing. it was nice to see the work evolve side by side, and notice how similar our visual languages are.

the viewer, i guess, ends up with these soft/blurry pictures of a distinctly american past or maybe even present. one that blends and bleeds, comes undone, a little quietly violent, but mostly sweet.
